Never claim a day as your own!

Proverbs 19:21 (ESV)

"Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand."

Never say, "This is MY ______ (insert day of the week)."

Every day is a gift from God and only He can determine the course of it. We have free will, but His plans ultimately prevail.

As I've been reading Chapter 2 of Matthew, which continues to explain the origin history of Jesus, I saw how King Herod made the mistake of thinking he owned the outcome of each day. Herod thought that each of his plans could redirect the course of history, not recognizing that there was a skilled higher power, who had meshed Herod's tiny plans into His much more intentional ones.

As evil as Herod was, we tend to act just like Him. I know I have. We pick a day of the week, throw a bunch of plans and intentions on it, and when they fail we lose our minds. Those plans were supposed to make us feel good!

But again, just like Herod, we are ignorant of the God who created us. The God who created the days of the week. The God who planned our lives from start to finish. If we would put our trust in Him, we wouldn't have to play this planning game. Where we just guess, throw out some plans, and see what happens.

Saying, "God, I trust you," isn't enough. Trusting God looks like strapping yourself in the backseat and letting Him drive you through your week. Consulting Him BEFORE you make your plans. Adjusting them after He speaks. Asking Him to help you make decisions that are aligned to His will. Even for the small things! Remember, God's a better driver than you- He has no blind spots.
